Mapitagang Pagbati!

That’s how Filipinos wish to welcome anyone with a flair of formality but the words don’t usually come out so we just say, ‘Hi!’.

I’m Dexter Tiro, a frustrated writer and an aspiring composer. I have aspired and composed none. I write and,  since 2016, have been keeping this blog which nobody reads, except for a few nice people who thought I can interpret their nighttime dreams. They do pay this blog a visit on a daily basis which gives me the thrill.

I am a father to two incredibly wonderful kids and to a niece I have taken as my own; Also, a proud and loving husband to a beautiful and hardworking wife. They all inspire me to write.

After a number of failures in life, and almost a decade of working with a non-profit organization to promote the equal rights of people with disabilities, I decided to shift to a different career to pursue my childhood dream – teaching. I surely have learned a great deal from my failures. Now I think I am qualified to teach students that failures could sometimes lead to a happy life.

On a less frivolous note, and for the sake of my students who call for some serious introductions, my academic discipline is focused on the social sciences and the application of the theories of psychology in the education setting.  I am also drawn into philosophy, a subject I have taught, as well as values and character education, to high school students in three private schools in the cities of Marikina, Quezon, and Caloocan.

I have recently obtained my Master’s in Education, major in Educational Psychology from the University of the Philippines Diliman. My academic interests, (no kidding) include understanding the processes of human cognition, development and learning, psycho-philosophical and sociocultural foundations of education, industrial psychology, non-formal and adult education, and research.

Welcome to my blog!
